For the current generation, Nissan's American Rogue and X-Trail models are linked at the hip. Basically, they're the same except for the engines that are market-dependent. Over in Japan, things got a little bit spicier this week with the arrival of the X-Trail Mode Premier model.
It's a body kit made by local tuners Autotech that's sold directly through the dealership network.

Customers can choose between the X-Trail 20X and the 20X Hybrid model, in both cases with either 2WD or 4WD. Autech have worked with Nissan's designers to offer a package that projects luxury and the spottiness their own fans expect.

From the front, we notice a new bumper with different air intakes and fog light trim. The Autech package also includes 18-inch polished wheels with 225/60R18 tires, side skirts and white trim for the wheel arches. At the back, a new exhaust system with twin pipes has been installed in combination with a diffuser insert.

Inside, we can see that the leather seats have been colored in stone white for the side bolsters and black for the centers. Other parts of the cabin, such as the dash and doors, received a "stone aluminum" look.

The X-Trail Mode Premier comes with a variety of extra features, such as rain deflectors for the side windows, extra cargo nets and checkered floor mats. Upon request, customers can choose between five individual colors, including the pearl white you see in these photos and a bright shade of red.

Prices start at 2,857,680 yen ($23,300) for the 2-wheel drive X-Trail and rise 50% to a 4WD hybrid. That's a lot of money, but you do get a different 7-seat crossover from everybody else.
