Are you tired of fancy yet useless SUVs? Then you don’t have to wait for Bentley and Lamborghini to launch their useless versions, you can just order the 2014 Toyota 4Runner, the all rugged beard-wearing purpose-built SUV. No-nonsense, just purpose. Sounds nice for a commercial, eh?
You know, we were just thinking the other day (OK OK, it happened about four months ago actually) that the new 4Runner reminds us of the old Nissan Patrol, Japan’s other boxy and capable SUV that will probably maintain its rugged body style until the end of time.

And what do you know, IED Turin designed Samir Sadikhov just imagined a future Patrol model that some die hard SUV fans might enjoy. “It pays homage to the extreme enthusiasts’ Nissan vehicles in form and off-road capability, but is a unique interpretation of Nissan design. Simply states, it is the extreme example for the Nissan brand,” says the Azerbaijan-born designer.

As you’ll notice below, the X-Patrol concept is way too futuristic to become a production vehicle, but we’re more than happy to see that these sketches are made around Nissan heritage in the SUV niche, which is about 50 years old.
