Nissan Wants You to Look Closer

Crisis may be winning the fight, but no car manufacturer will go down without its fair share of kicking and screaming. And as the only battle they can still win remains the one with us, the customers, car manufacturers now turn their attention towards better marketing campaigns and financial offers.

Nissan is doing just that, as it announced its "Look Closer, Nissan Delivers" marketing initiative, designed to raise its products consumer awareness in the US market. The campaign includes leases, low APR financing and cash back.

"In today's economy, every spending decision is magnified, with families weighing 'want' versus 'need,' especially with major purchases such as a new automobile," said Brian Carolin, Sales and Marketing senior vice president.

The “Look closer, Nissan delivers” campaign' financial offers include one of the lowest priced new vehicles in the United States, the 2009 Nissan Versa Sedan 1.6, with a starting Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $9,990. Carolin said that “while there are currently many companies offering financing deals to consumers right now, we understand that one size or one vehicle doesn't fit all.” Backing his words are Nissan's lease offers, listed below:

$199/month, limited time lease or $1,500 cash back on the Nissan Altima
$199/month, limited time lease on Nissan Rogue
$329/month, limited time lease on Nissan Maxima or Nissan Murano
0.9% financing or $2,250 cash back on Nissan Sentra

Nissan's overall business is not doing so great. The company has forecasted a $2.9 billion loss this year, and is trying to cope with the grim prospect by any means it can, including the cut of some 20,000 jobs worldwide. Nissan North America spokesman Alan Buddendeck said however that for its US branch, the company has made the cuts it needs and doesn't expect “extensive further job actions,” reported Associated Press.
