Japanese automaker Nissan has unveiled the 2014 Pathfinder Hybrid at the 2013 New York International Auto Show. Described as the "most fuel-efficient Pathfinder ever", the 2014 Pathfinder Hybrid is said to offer a combined fuel economy of 26 miles per gallon and a 526-mile driving range "with no compromise of performance or interior roominess".
The Pathfinder's Hybrid version, which will be available in three trim levels (SV, SL and Platinum), will go on sale in late summer 2013 and it's expected to cost about $3,000 more than the regular 3.5-liter V6 version.
Talking about engines, the Pathfinder Hybrid will be powered by a supercharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder unit and an electric motor that will provide a combined output of 250 bhp and 243 lb-ft (329 Nm) of torque.
"The Pathfinder Hybrid is highly affordable because it matches motor and battery size well, while minimizing the number of additional parts or modifications needed to the platform and body. It is designed as a logical bridge between conventional internal combustion engine powertrains and the wider acceptance of hybrid systems by providing enhanced efficiency with no compromises versus the standard vehicle," said Nissan North America Vice President, Product Planning Pierre Loing.
