The first of them is the Navara EnGuard Concept, which is an emergency rescue vehicle that can provide electrical energy in extreme environments. It is built on the Tekna equipment level of the Double Cab Navara, which already holds the International Pick-up Award, but has received numerous upgrades.

Nissan has no production plans for this concept vehicle, but has made it to show how far a Navara can go with imagination and practical spirit. For this reason, Nissan fitted the Navara EnGuard concept with custom design elements and many performance upgrades, as well as equipment suitable for emergency situations and disaster recovery.

There is also a DJI Phantom 4 drone, which is meant to provide crews information from the field. It can operate for up to 30 minutes, and is configured to relay images back to the car.

The design changes include fluorescent green paint in the critical areas, which is great for visibility in low-light conditions. The body of the Navara has been mildly altered, as you can observe in the photo gallery. From a mechanical perspective, the concept has received a fully adjustable suspension system, complete with nylon bushes.

As we mentioned, Nissan used technology from its electric vehicles for this Navara, but the pick-up truck is not an electric model. Instead, it has seven battery packs placed in docks, which have been engineered to be weather-proof and continuously charge from the internal combustion unit until they reach and hold their maximum capacity.

The idea of this solution is to offer five output sockets from every battery pack, which can be used as portable power supplies. Specialist equipment that requires AC power can be employed in remote areas thanks to this solution, without the need to carry a dedicated generator to power those units.

The biggest advantage of those power packs is that they can be employed in places where a conventional generator has no place - enclosed spaces like buildings or caves. As Nissan explained, this concept was made to explore what other uses can be found for EV battery technology, and the Navara EnGuard is one of the possibilities.
