Nissan to Bring Renault Logan in China by 2010

Renault's Logan is often referred to as one of the models addressed to recession times and the sales figures recoded by the French manufacturer come to support this. Well, Renault knows the Logan could bring even better results so it is now planning to launch it in China, one of the largest auto markets worldwide. According to a report by gasgoo.com, the company is planning to manufacture the model in Huadu, Guangzhou with the help of Dongfeng Motor Co, a joint venture between the Dongfeng Motor Corp and Nissan Motors.

The car will become available in only two engine configurations, both gasoline, 1.4- and 1.6-liter. It's not yet clear whether the two allies, Renault and Nissan, also plan to bring the 1.5-liter dCI version currently sold in most European countries.

According to the aforementioned source, the car, which will be codenamed L90, will be developed on the same B platform, just like Nissan Tiida and Renault Clio, which helps the manufacturers a lot as it would reduce both costs and time needed for the launch.

The first models are expected to be launched in China in 2010 but it's still unclear whether the parent companies plan to launch the same Logan we already know from European markets or it plans to adjust it a bit by adding some new features.

The new Logan, presented for the first time in July 2008, brought important revenues to the French manufacturer. The car, produced by the Romanian manufacturer Dacia, owned by Renault, recently received a more crisis-aimed engine: a 1.2-liter 16V powerplant that develops 75 horsepower. This particular engine is only available in France for the time being but further markets are likely to get it in the next few months.
