Nissan’s Newsroom brought a very interesting subject to our attention. The Leaf isn’t the only important EV for the Renault-Nissan alliance. Renault is already selling the Twizy with relative success in Europe and is getting ready to launch the Zoe, which is a supermini like the Leaf.
Nissan also likes the Twizy and wants to sell it in Japan under its own brand, but can’t yet since it does not fall under any existing category of vehicle allowed in Japanese road. So now, a road trial is under way to see if it should be allowed.
Nissan is studying the practicality of such a car y using a public transportation service linking public transportation and EVs, plus the '2-mode EV car sharing' scheme, which sees it being used a private commuter vehicle in the mornings and evenings, and as a corporate car during business hours.
