If the Earth ever stops spinning or slows down for a strange reason, don’t worry - the people from Down Under will keep things in check. These people love burnouts, and motorised shenanigans, in general, so much that we trust them with the task.
Oh, and they also have the power. Sure, automotive production in Australia is not exactly at its peak, with Holden’s upcoming death, which is scheduled for 2017, having the potential to start a negative spiral. But hey, nothing will stop these people from enjoying their V8 hooning.

Let’s take the events from the video below, for example. We are dealing with what can easily be labeled as an international effort here. While the Aussies are the ones abusing it, they’ve also tuned it, and the car in question was born in Japan, but its engine compartment contents were designed in America.

The tech details of the story

To put things another way, we are looking at a Nissan Silvia that’s animated by an LS1 V8 that has switched to turbocharging. And its driver is making full use of each and every one of the 510 hp (this is the power at the wheels).

Getting into details, we’ll tell you this is a 1989 Silvia S13 with LS1 5.7-liter V8 muscle. The GM mill has kept its stock internals, which seems to take the 10 psi delivered by the Garrett GT42 turbocharger rather well.

Further down the power line, we find a T56 BorgWarner six-speed manual, while the clutch uses a twin plate setup to handle things. This is a car that only does sideways miles, so there was no problem with welding the differential.

As for its rear tires, these seem to be turned into smoke at a delightfully quick rate, as you can see for yourself in the piece of footage below.
