Nissan Shows Positive January Financial Results

Nissan Motor Co has been very successful in January, as the automotive producer has posted impressive sales and production figures for the month.

The carmaker’s global production saw a 96.8 percent year-on-year increase last month, reaching 285,986 units. Production in Japan grew by 83.1 percent to 86,938 units. This was driven by the increased output of the new Fuga, Serena and export models.

The production figures for the rest of the world increased by 113.5 percent (year-on-year), managing to reach 199,048 units. Nissan's output in the U.S. saw a 110.9 percent increase to 39,523 units. In  Mexico, the carmaker produced  41 percent more vehicles, reaching a figure of 38,023 units. The company's UK production figure registered a  solid 120.2 percent increase to 34,877 units.

An even more impressive growth was posted for the Spain - 168.4 percent to 5.843 units. Following the same trend, Nissan's production in China  grew by 148.3 percent to 58,171 units. The automaker's output in other regions surged 112 percent, managing to reach 22,611 units.

Nissan’s global sales, including minivans, rose 36.4 percent to 310.626 units compared to the same month of 2009, achieving a January all-time record. The company sold 49,096 units on the Japanese market. This can be translated into an 17.5 percent year-on-year increase. However, the car producer’s market share dropped by 0.4 percent year-on-year to 13.4 percent.

Outside Japan, Nissan’s sales posted a 40.7 percent year-on-year increase to 261,530 units, registering an all-time record month for the month of January. On the  U.S. market, the automaker's sales saw a 16.1 percent increase to 62,572 units. In Europe, Nissan's sales increased by 17 percent sales  to 42,985 cars. The carmaker took full advantage of the booming  Chinese market, as it sales in the country surged 116 percent, managing to reach to 85,229 cars. This was an all time record for a single month.
