Nissan Sales Jumps 43 Percent in March

The growth reported by most of the carmakers present on the US market expanded to Japanese manufacturer as well. Keeping in line with the average growth reported by others, Nissan posted a 43.3 percent increase in sales over March 2009, providing evidence that the US automotive market is recovering.

The Japanese sold 95,468 units (combined Nissan and Infiniti sales), with the Nissan Division alone selling 85,526 units, an increase of 44 percent over March 2009. For car sales, March was a record month, with the Versa model for instance posting a 105.1 percent jump from the 2009 levels.

"As the industry continues to show signs of life, we want to make sure that Nissan continues to get an even bigger piece of the sales pie," Brian Carolin, senior vice president, Sales and Marketing, NNA said in a release.

"After achieving a record 9 percent share in the first two months of 2010, our 43 percent increase in March confirms Nissan is a big winner in the industry."

The Nissan Cars sales were spearheaded, as said, by the Versa, seconded by the Maxima. Infinti followed the trend and posted its best month since August 2008, with the new 2011 M model drawing more customers to the dealerships.

"The Nissan division saw sales in March at the highest rate since last August," said Al Castignetti, general manager Nissan Division. "We're particularly encouraged by the performance of core models like Altima, Versa, Sentra and Rogue, which drive our business."

"With the launch of the 2011 M sedan, and the unveiling of the all-new 2011 QX this week in New York, this is the strongest Infiniti showroom yet," added Ben Poore, vice president, Infiniti.
