Special editions are a dime a dozen these days, but what Nissan is selling might turn out to be different. It's called the Rogue One Star Wars Limited Edition, and it will remind everybody of either Darth Vader or the Stormtroopers because of the colors.
Despite this, the special edition comes not with Lord Vader's life-preserving helm, but with that of a Death Trooper. Sure, why not. Everybody has a regular trooper mask for Halloween, so why not do things differently?!

The Rogue One special edition is based on the 2017 Rogue model year, but until they painted it completely back, we never realized it looks like a helmet with wheels. Various logos have been sprinkled throughout, including “Rebel Alliance” and "Galactic Empire” on the D-pillars and in the cupholders, “Star Wars” on the rear bumper and the illuminated kick plates, and “Rogue One” plaques mounted on the front doors, which are our favorites.

Nissan promises to make and sell 5,000 Rogue One special editions for the US and another 400 for Canada. So in total, 5,400 awesome black helmets will come out. Every car will come with a 2.5-liter engine making 170 horsepower and matched to the Xtronic continuously variable automatic gearbox. Best of all, it's not shockingly expensive, as the Star Wars stuff is bundled up into a $1,990 you pay over the price of a Rogue SV. So if you want the AWD on top, it's a very acceptable $30,300.

But why is the new Star Wars movie called Rogue One and is there any direct connection to the Nissan crossover? "Rogue" refers to the rebel pilots that took part in all the major battles, like the ones on Hoth or Yavin.

Rogue One potentially takes place just weeks before the events of A New Hope, the 1977 movie. And while the film portrays a new generation of rebels, the stormtroopers were replaced too.

The Death Troopers are supposed to be the elite of the elite. We won't know very much about them until the movie comes out, but they were based on concepts from the Lucas archives that required much taller soldiers with athletic bodies.
