Nissan has lifted the digital vail off their brand new concept car, called the 2020 Vision Gran Turismo. As the name suggests, it puts a futuristic twist on their current design language and has been created specifically for the the Gran Turismo 6 video game.
Last year, the makers of the game invited all the major car companies to create their own concept cars which would be available to drive online. The most recent belonged to Volkswagen, who chose to base it on the design of their most famous car, the Golf GTI. Nissan did pretty much the same thing, with their concept looking a lot like a GT-R, especially when you examine the headlights, hood and front wings.

While the concept is supposed to look like a Nissan from the year 2020, we might not have to wait that long for a new GT-R. Most reports point at 2017 as being the likely year of release for the R36 next-generation supercar fighter.

With a new a new GT-R probably in the works, this concept could be a great insight into the thinking behind its design. Squint your eyes and you might just see the shape of a Ferrari killer with a hybrid engine from 3 years into the future?

Hybrid? That's right, maybe even plug-in hybrid. Based on a new Nissan race car that's to race at Le Mans in 2015, Nissan is going to make the GT-R into a green supercar killer. This somewhat controversial move is backed up by similar activities at Honda, BMW, Ferrari, McLaren and Porsche, to name just a few.
