Nissan Releases Production, Sales and Exports Report

Nissan has released information regarding its production, sales and export figures for October 2010. The company's global production in October increased to 363,227 units, up 11.6 per cent from previous year's same month, an all time record for October.

With the Japan government subsidy program for environmentally friendly vehicles ending, production decreased 12 per cent year-on year to 87,215 units. On the other hand, production outside Japan increased to 276,012 units, by 21.9 per cent. US production increased 1.4 per cent year-on-year to 47,280 units. Production in Mexico increased 27 per cent to 52,276 units due to increased demand for all models, particularly the Tiida. UK production increased 1.7 per cent year-on year to 40,355 units. Production in Spain increased 97.3 per cent from October 2009 to 11,178 units. In China, production increased 17.0 per cent year-on-year to 84,686 units. Production in other regions were up 92.5 per cent year-on-year to 40,237 units.

Global sales of Nissan products saw an 11.4 per cent increase from last year's same month, to 319,330 units, another record for the month October. Japan sales decreased to 33,626 vehicles, including mini-vehicles, down 24.1 per cent from the same period last year. Overall vehicle registrations in Japan were affected by the termination of the government subsidy for eco-friendly cars, decreasing 30.6 per cent year-on-year to 25,369 units. Sales outside Japan increased to 285,704, by 17.9 per cent over previous year's same month, an all-time record for the month October.

Nissan's exports for the month October increased 12.4 per cent year-on-year to 63,749 units. Exports to North America increased 27.4 per cent to 39,560 units, due to increased demand for the new Juke, Infiniti G series and Rogue. Exports to Europe totaled 5,935 units, a 17.6 per cent increase from October 2009. This is thanks to increased demand for models targeting the Russian market.
