Nissan Pixo, the cheapest car in the United Kingdom before the Dacia Sandero reached British shores, will be discontinued, the Japanese automaker revealed today.
Speaking to Autocar, a Nissan spokesman said the Pixo will be axed as the company is looking to focus on its other small models, such as the Micra and the Note. "The Pixo was a good competitor for cars in that class. We've got a strong lineup in the small car sector with the Micra, the new Note and the Juke. That's where we're going to focus for the time being,” he said.

Built in India, the Nissan Pixo shares most of its components with the Suzuki Alto, a vehicle that will continue to be offered at least until 2015, when a replacement is scheduled to arrive.

The Nissan Pixo was unveiled at the 2008 Paris Motor Show and went on sale for just under £7,000. The Pixo was aimed at the Toyota Aygo, Kia Picanto and Hyundai i10.
