Nissan has once again managed to buck the trend in Europe, announcing a huge sales increase of 16 percent for the month of November, despite industry-wide sluggishness. The results were backed by strong demand for the Sunderland-built Qashqai and Juke crossover models, together with brisk sales of the X-TRAIL SUV.
Recently, we reported on Honda actually saying that they are envious of the success of the Qashqai, which has managed to outsell their whole range in Europe during the first three quarters of the year. The Juke also posted impressive results, but we bet that Nissan is most happy with the fact that demand for the once slow selling Micra is finally picking up.
“Throughout the year we have seen our monthly sales trending significantly above 2010, and this has continued into November. Although we recognize a great deal of additional effort will be needed to firmly establish Nissan as the leading Asian brand in Europe, 2011 has witnessed a step change in our performance and presence within the region as we push towards that goal,” says Guillaume Cartier, Vice President Sales Operations Europe.
