Nissan Micra (March) Celebrates 30th Birthday

First launched in Britain in 1983, the timeless Micra is celebrating its 30th birthday this year. The first generation model was unveiled in October 1982 as a rival for the Honda City. It was introduced across Europe in 1983, followed by Canada in 1984.

The first generation model stayed in production for a full decade before being replaced in 1992 by the Micra K11, one of the company's most successful models. This was so successful it was produced at the same time as the third-generation model from 2002 until 2007 for Taiwan and the Philipines.

We're currently at the MkIV generation, which arrived in 2010 and has already received a facelift in some parts of Asia. No facelift for the UK model yet, but Nissan has announced a range of new ‘30’ themed offers for Micra owners.

"All Micra drivers with over three years of ownership can now benefit from a MOT for as little as £30. They can also get their hands on some new accessories, with a considerable 30% off tyres and windscreen wiper blades. Continuing the birthday celebrations, 30% can also be saved on Micra brake pads and batteries, now available from £45. Better still, all prices include VAT and come with free fitting," Nissan UK says.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
