While things may not be going so well for the Nissan Leaf in warm places, like Texas and Arizona, customers in areas with milder climates are still enjoying their EVs without any loss of battery capacity or any other problem for that matter (turns out the Leaf is actually a reliable machine, aside from the battery).
It was even taken uphill in reverse, at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, setting a new Guiness World Record in the process and boosting its ‘cool factor’ considerably. Also, to further satisfy the current owners, Nissan have released two new apps, which are available both online or as a mobile download.
One of them updates the car’s battery level according to rather sophisticated data acquisition techniques, which takes into account things like inclines (positive or negative gradients), use of air conditioning, to work in tandem with the other new app, one which calculates the car’s route to get it and its passengers to their destination as quickly as possible, while using the least amount of electricity.
