Due to several mishaps which occurred this year, sales of Nissan’s all-electric Leaf have plummeted, with only the last two months recording a good increase of the figures.
However, according to autoblog.com, the upward trend is set to continue, and they are reporting that sales numbers for November and December will match those of 2011, when sales of the Leaf were going quite well.
According to Nissan North America spokesman, David Reuter, one of the main problems faced by the Leaf was a lack of supply, which came about after they expanded distribution of the EV to all 50 states. Reuter said: "We starved the California market a bit, and that impacted our sales [. . .] we'll be much closer to parity compared to calendar year 2011."
When asked about what updates the car is getting for 2013, Reuter didn`t give any specific details, only saying that the Leaf will “continue to advance from a technological standpoint." Also, the cost of the car will be brought down, once production is up and running at Nissan’s car plant, in Smyrna, Tennessee - that is still two months away, though.
