"Nissan is committed to bringing zero-emission mobility to the United States, and around the world," Carlos Tavares, Nissan Americas chairman said in a release.
"A part of that commitment is delivering a one-stop shop experience for the new car owner, which is why we chose AeroVironment. As a result of our selection, drivers of the Nissan LEAF will be able to charge their vehicles safely overnight at their own homes."
The stations to be supplied by AeroVironment will provide convenient home charging for the Leaf from a 220-volt line. According to both the initial data on the Leaf and the charging station, a fully charged battery will be available after eight hours.
The Leaf can run for 100 miles (160 km) on a full charge. The medium-size electric hatchback is powered by laminated compact lithium-ion batteries that manage to develop 90 kW, while its electric motors produce 80 kW/280 Nm of torque.
"Our selection as Nissan's preferred charging equipment and service provider, for what we believe will be the largest adoption of battery electric cars in history, represents a great opportunity to apply our nationwide EV charging infrastructure solutions to the successful introduction of the Nissan LEAF," Tim Conver, AV's chairman added.
