Nissan Leaf Available for Order in Europe

The Japanese electric vehicle manufactured by Nissan is now available for order in Europe, only a few days after the carmaker announced the roll out plan for the US and the 8 years, 100,000 miles warranty for Leaf's battery.

The Leaf is however available for order only in Portugal and the Republic of Ireland. The UK will begin accepting orders on September 1, with deliveries expected to begin on the island in March.

"Today's announcement brings zero-emissions motoring one step closer to reality in Europe," Simon Thomas, Nissan International Sales and Marketing vice president said.

"Nissan LEAF will appeal on many levels; it's a completely zero-emission electric car with all of the financial and environmental benefits that will bring, but it is also a practical family size car and fun to drive. That's a powerful combination, and Nissan LEAF is already attracting significant interest from prospective customers."

So far, 12,000 customers in Europe have expressed their interest in buying a Leaf. For all of them, as well as for new customers, Nissan invites all to sing up on their local consumer website. Prices for the Leaf in Portugal start from EUR30,250, in Ireland from EUR29,995 and in the UK from 23,990 pounds (including new VAT rate).

To order one, customers will have to pay a fully-refundable deposit of EUR300. Before moving on to the next step, Nissan is inviting all customers for a test drive by December. If they like what they experience, they can order the Leaf. If not, Nissan refunds the EUR300. Call centers have been setup in each country to inform the customers.
