Nissan Juke Awarded IIHS Top Safety Pick

Nissan seems to be on top of its game these days, at least from the safety point of view. Following yesterday’s results from Euro NCAP, who awarded the Leaf a 5-star overall rating, the Juke has now just received the "Top Safety Pick" from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

The rating is given to vehicles that achieve the Institute's highest rating of "Good" in front, rear and side impact protection as well as being equipped with electronic stability control and earn a good rating in roof strength.

The Juke comes equipped with the Nissan Advanced Air Bag System (AABS) with dual-stage, dual-threshold front air bags and seat belt and occupant classification sensors, roof-mounted curtain side-impact supplemental air bags for front and rear outboard occupant head protection, seat-mounted driver and front passenger side-impact supplemental air bags and front-seat Active Head Restraints.

Other standard equipment includes LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children) system, Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) and Traction Control System (TCS).

"Nissan's commitment to safety and innovation is reflected in the Nissan Juke receiving the Top Safety Pick from IIHS," said Brian Carolin, senior vice president, Sales and Marketing, Nissan North America, Inc. "The Nissan Juke has a unique combination of motorsports-inspired design and unexpected levels of technology and safety features – all with a starting MSRP under $19,000."

The Leaf, Cube and Infiniti M37/M56 are also featured on the list of 2011 Top Safety Picks. The Juke adds the Top Safety Pick from IIHS to the 5-star Euro NCAP rating it has received back in February.
