Nissan India Confirms New Dacia Duster Based Terrano SUV. Official Sketch Revealed

Nissan India has just officially confirmed rumors that the Dacia Duster SUV will be rebadged into a new Terrano, right now only for the local market. The Duster is manufactured by Renault at the Chennai plan and has been a huge hit there, selling over 60,000 just a year after its launch. It's also exported in RHD to the UK.

The Japanese car company has also released a sketch showing the new Terrano as it will look waring Nissan badges. Major changes are definitely taking place: bumpers, headlights, grille and bonnet are all different.

Since the two models are likely to be made on the same assembly line, it's expected the engine range to remain the same. It will start with a 1.6-liter petrol and continue with 1.5-liter cCi available in to stages, 85 PS and 110 PS. Rumors circulating on the internet suggest it could have a 2-liter and the 1.6 dCI 130, but we're inclined to believe those would be way to expensive for a budget car like this.

"Terrano will play a key role in increasing sales within the Indian market. I am delighted to reveal both the name and the very first image of what will be a very important model for Nissan. You can see from the sketch that Terrano has a bold and distinctive design that I am confident will appeal to our growing customer base in India, as will its driving performance and range of other features that will be revealed at a later date," reads the official statement made by mister Kenichiro Yomura, President and CEO of Nissan Motor India Pvt. Ltd.
