Nissan GT-R Naomi Osaka Limited Edition to Start Selling in January

Brand ambassadors are people who get hired by companies to show the brand in a positive light in order to increase awareness. It’s not all that common for a company to release a special edition of this or that product in honor of the people speaking on their behalf.

Back in September, the reigning US Open champion in women's singles, Naomi Osaka, became brand ambassador for Nissan. Little did the tennis player know that a few months after that a very special edition of the Nissan GT-R will be wearing her name.

On Wednesday, Nissan said that in the first month of next year it will begin selling a limited edition of the GT-R, built in honor of and with the help of Osaka.

Only 50 units are for now planned for the model, which will retail in yet undisclosed markets for a yet undisclosed price.

Based on the GT-R Premium edition grade, the car will be available in a choice of three colors - Midnight Opal, Brilliant White Pearl and Meteor Flake Black Pearl - and will feature several unique touches.

Nissan did not completely detail the changes, but it did say the car will be fitted with LED high-mount stop lights on the dry carbon rear spoiler and a golden model-number plate in the engine room.

As for Osaka’s input when it comes to the creation of the car, the Japanese say the tennis player had a say in match the color schemes for the special edition. It’s unclear whether her name will appear on any part of the model.

The order books for the Nissan GT-R Naomi Osaka Limited Edition will open on December 20, despite the fact that the prices will be made public in January.

Those in the market for a more high-end GT-R can opt for the GT-R50, whose order books are also open. In its turn a limited edition, one tweaked with the help of Italdesign, the model sells for 990,000 EUR.
