Nissan GT-R RC Car Packed in "Porsche 911 GT3 RS" Box Is a Humiliating Mistake

Those who are familiar with the world of consumer RC or scale model cars know that production or labeling errors are as common as a hangover after leaving the club in the morning. Still, some mistakes are more special than others and today we are here to talk about a memorable one.
The RC toy in the pic above is undecided about its identity - its styling cues clearly tell us it is a Nissan GT-R, but a first grader could read the branding on the box, which clearly states "Porsche 911 GT3 RS".

So, before we move any further with this supercar confusion, there's one important question we need to answer. Where is the failure? Does it sit with the car or with the packaging?

Given the fact that the box underneath is all about the Nissan GT-R, we'd be tempted to say the identification on the box is the problem here.

And, if we dig into this amusingly-labeled toy, the irony just keeps surfacing. Given the bloody track rivalry between the Nissan GT-R and the Porsche 911 Turbo, this is one strike that offends both camps. Then again, this was never the Porsche 911 GT3 RS' war. Still, with straight line performance that's pretty close to that of the 911 Turbo, perhaps the comparo between Godzilla and the naturally-aspirated, track-savvy 911 isn't that far off.

This brings back memories from earlier this year, when we hadn't seen the GT3 RS. The manic Neunelfer showed its gaping font fenders and extrovert rear wing via a scale model - yes, it was one of those "leaked" episodes, which also revealed the car's Java Orange launch color.

Come to think of if, this cheap RC car might as well become a highly-treasured collectible. As we said, it could be one offending piece of plastic, but this doesn't take away the effervescence of the failure.
