2016 is the year YouTube car reviews have turned into the sort of immature drag races we actually wanted to see. Because schoolyard conversations usually end with "yeah, buy my dad is stronger," nothing matters more than speed when it comes to supercars.
These are three standard cars that are known for their speed. The McLaren 650S is light and agile, but so is the rare Ferrari 458 Speciale, one of the most powerful naturally aspirated V8 supercars on the planet. And of course, you can't have a drag race without the Nissan GT-R. Godzilla's main business case is able to outsprint the competition after all.

The 650S is the most powerful car there at 650 hp. It's also the lightest. However, the 605 horsepower of the Ferrari 458 Speciale is delivered in a more linear way. Meanwhile, the GT-R is carrying around a Renault Twizy more than rivals. Obviously, mechanical complexity is part of the reason, as this is the only AWD model here. However, the Japanese engineers say the weight actually helps it get off the line faster.

The funny thing about this drag race is that it's irrelevant. No, we don't want to point out the obvious: these are track cars, not Dodge Chargers. What we are referring to is the technology being used to go fast. Nissan has officially announced that 2017 is the last model year for the current GT-R. The next one has a high chance of becoming a hybrid or PHEV, just like the Honda NSX.

Next up, we have the Ferrari 458 Speciale, which has already gone out of production, having been overshadowed by the twin-turbocharged 488 GTB. Also, Ferrari stripped too much of the luxury, leaving an uncomfortable shell, many people say. Lastly, the 650S is not as outdated as the rest, but we already got our first glimpses of the future McLaren with the 570S. That cheaper car makes this look dated. Let's not forget the 650S is based on the 12C, which came out way back in 2011.
