Nissan GT-R Drag Races Mercedes AMG GT R, Cheater Takes It All

Few supercars are closer than the Nissan GT-R and the Mercedes-AMG GT R, at least in therms of their badging. Of course, the two have extremely different ways of delivering their kicks, but this won't stop anybody from drag racing them.

In this battle, Godzilla bets it all on the AWD card, with the Japanese supercar making full use of its intelligent all-paw system. Nevertheless, both the twin-turbo V6 heart of the animal and its dual-clutch tranny are inferior to the tech goodies of the Affalterbach toy.

Nicknamed the Beast Of The Green Hell, the Merc packs a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8, while using a dual-clutch tranny to send the power to the rear wheels.

Then there's the soundtrack battle. Sure, the Nissan halo car is as mean as a V6 can get, with its voice making many aficionados feel weak at the knees. Then again, its decibel side is no match for the V8 growl of the German monster - the motor might pack a TT setup, but Affalterbach engineers are famous for their musical abilities.

Oh, and there's another key difference between these two - while the GT-R is one of the most popular tuner machines in the world, there aren't all that many modded GT Rs out there.

Which brings us to today's story - the drag race we have here isn't exactly fair. And that's because the Mercedes-AMG comes in factory trim form, while we can't say the same thing about the Nissan.

The GT-R packs an E85 setup, while its air intake and exhaust have also been modded. According to the owner of the machine, this now packs 700 hp.

Of course, the battle, which comes from Motor Grid Brasil, remains spectacular. In fact, the two supercars raced using both rolling and standing starts. In fact, in order for the conclusion to be relevant, the drivers even switched cars.
