The sweetest side effect of an aging platform is that the aftermarket side of the industry manages to dip fully into its potential, with the R35 Nissan GT-R being the perfect example of that.
Nevertheless, we're here to talk about virtual, not real-world tuning, since that's what the GTRaid in the image above stands for. At first, it might seem like we're dealing with a mere rendering here.
However, the image, which comes from YasidDesign, only adds fuel to a recent fire that has brought us Baja-like incarnations of classic Porsche 911s, Miatas, and other iconic sportscars.
We still have some waiting to do before coming to the conclusion this jposrtscars (jaked-up sportscars) cases are turning into a trend, but we have to admit we like what we see.
Come to think of it, Godzilla's sophisticated all-wheel-drive system would do wonders in such a configuration. Nevertheless, there's a long way from this pixel dream to a real world build.
The most important hardware changes would have to include the suspension, the wheel-tire combo (notice the beadlock wheels shod in offroad rubber here), as well as the underbody protection.
And since we mentioned the GT-R's artificial intelligence, all the systems, from the ABS to the most complicated of sliding algorithms, would have to be recalibrated.
Such crossbreeds aren't anything new, but now in the age of crowdfunding and instant sharing, wide-scale projects on the topic seem more likely than ever.
And before anybody points out the audience for such vehicles will always remain restricted, allow us to remind you that many millionaires, or DIY aficionados, for that matter, are sick and tired of the disconnected driving experience SUVs inevitably deliver. And no, not all of them will be able to buy or be satisfied by, say, a Lamborghini Urus, which is where jportscars should step in.
