Nissan Expects to Sell 1.5 Million EVs in 2016

The current sales figures for all these toaster-like contraption that we call EVs are nothing to shout about, though the Nissan Leaf has managed to play some good notes to its potential customers and as a result it’s picking up orders left and right, though primarily from the public sector.
But the Japanese automaker seems to think there’s much more to this market other than just a better brand image, because they’ve announced a sales target of 1.5 million electric vehicles by 2015, as part of the Nissan Green Program.

Also, they say a fuel cell powered vehicle is also coming by 2015, powered by an advanced drivetrain that’s more compact and efficient that what the industry has come to expect. However, let’s not forget that Leaf deliveries have yet to reach the 20,000 unit mark, despite the model having been launched a year ago.
