Nissan cube Launched in the UK

Nissan has just introduced the new cube in the United Kingdom, a model that is going to be marketed locally through web-based social networking websites, including Facebook and Twitter. autocar.co.uk writes that the Japanese manufacturer hopes to sell around 2,000 units per year, with first cars to find their owners in January 2010.

Separately, Nissan recently announced pricing for the US-bound 2010 cube, a model that will be offered in five different version - the base model plus S, S, SL and S Krom Edition.

For model year 2010, the parent company equipped the cube with Bluetooth support, leather-wrapped steering wheel and steering wheel audio controls, all of them standard on the S and SL trims. Additionally, the S version comes with Interface System for iPod, MP3 CD-ROM playback capacity, Radio Data System (RDS), speed-sensitive volume control (SSV) and two additional speakers (six total).

Additionally, the S Krom Edition features include a new 4.3-inch color audio display with USB connectivity and RearView Monitor, along with Nissan Intelligent Key with Push Button Ignition as standard equipment.

US pricing for the base model starts at $13,990 and goes all the way to $20,120 for the S Krom Edition.

Nissan cube is powered by a 1.8-liter engine that develops 122 horsepower and 148 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission, with front wheel drive. According to official Nissan figures, the car achieves a fuel consumption rating of 26 mpg (9 L/100Km) city and 40 mpg (5.9 L/100Km) highway.
