Nissan Brings "No Charge to Charge" Initiative to Boston, Now Available in 17 Markets

We're not sure everyone remembers, but EV fans and Nissan Leaf owners surely can recall that last year, Nissan rolled out a new incentive for Nissan Leaf buyers called the “No Charge to Charge” program.

The name says it all, but we'll refresh your memory on the initiative that started 12 months ago.

The program applies to anyone who bought a Nissan Leaf after April 1, 2014, and it gives them free access to public charging stations for two years. That's a free charging pass for around 2,600 charging stations and more than 200 quick chargers.

"No Charge to Charge" launched at Nissan Leaf dealers in the Boston market on July 1, allowing owners to use the same chargers mentioned above, capable of replenishing their cars' battery packs from empty to 80 percent in about 30 minutes.

"Nissan LEAF is an attractive option for Boston car buyers because it is fun to drive and offers significantly lower operating costs when compared to a gas-powered car," said Andrew Speaker, director, Electric Vehicle Sales & Marketing, Nissan. "EV charging infrastructure continues to grow in Boston, and access to free public charging for new LEAF buyers helps make owning an all-electric vehicle even more cost-effective and convenient."

With Boston being now covered by Nissan's charging plan, the program's tally extends to 17 markets in the US, including San Francisco, Los Angeles, Sacramento, San Diego, Seattle, and Chicago, among others.

However, the US is not the only place where Nissan Leaf is enjoying a massive slice of popularity. In the UK, for example, the EV hit a 10,000 units sold milestone after its debut in 2011 but keep in mind that Nissan is working on a new-generation Leaf, so things will get interesting soon enough in the green segment.
