This year, Nissan decided to make a statement with its 400 hp 3-cylinder 1.5-liter turbocharged engine that is set to revolutionize standards of efficiency as well as performance.
We’re talking about a very small engine that weights only 40 kilograms (88pounds) but brings a lot of power. It will be used in the ZEOD RC and will focus on downsizing and efficiency, having more "fire" than the incredible Formula 1 engine.

Moreover, it will produce 380Nm of torque and will rev up to 7,500 rpm. So, this means that at a ratio of 10 horsepower per kilogram this particular engine promises a better power-to-weight ratio than the new engines to be used in the FIA Formula 1 World Championship this year. If that isn't pretty awesome, we don't know what is.

Thus, we must say that Nissan did quite a remarkable job with this internal combustion engine, Darren Cox, Nissan’s Global Motorsport Director even saying that it is “quite a stunning piece of engineering.”

The company appears to have big plans for the future stating that they hope to “set new standards in efficiency in regards to every aspect of the car – powertrain, aerodynamics and handling, “ as well as maintaining their position as "industry leaders in focussing on downsizing."
