Nissan has gone crazy with the in-house tuning recently (we approve the move) and the company is now making the whole thing official, announcing a new plan that will bring multiple new Nismo models to the market.
To begin with, Nissan is looking to give multiple of its models the treatment received by the recently-introduced Juke Nismo Concept, but the company hasn’t mentioned the exact vehicles. The company has also released a video that aims to demostrate the Juke Nismo is just the beginning of this expansion.
"Nismo has carved out an enviable reputation in motor racing," said Carlos Ghosn, Nissan President and CEO. "In fact, in 2011, Nismo cars and engines won in every category they competed in... the first time we have achieved this milestone.
"The time is now right to let ordinary drivers experience what our racing drivers enjoy every time they head out onto the track. We aim to bring Nismo's passion and focus on driving excitement to mainstream models, and the Juke Nismo Concept shows what we can do," the executive explained.
In addition to that, Nismo will come with a richer offer for those who want to gift their vehicles with go-fast parts and accessories. Nissan will concentrate all of Nismo’s activities in one site, relocating all developments to a new headquarters in Tsurumi, Yokohama starting from 2013.
