Nissan and Infiniti Officially Announce Return to Detroit Auto Show in 2012

The economic crisis seems to be a thing of the past, and the auto shows are getting better and better every year, keeping journalists busy late into the night with reports and analysis. The largest one in North America takes place in Detroit every January and this year saw hundred of cars on display, brought by carmakers from across the world.

However, one company has been conspicuously missing the past two years, thought that’s all about to change. Nissan, together with its premium division Infiniti, have announced their return to the venue that will take place in about 6 months in 2012.

"We are grateful that NAIAS is, once again, an important part of Nissan's international auto show strategy,"
said North American International Auto Show chairman Bill Perkins. "We've been meeting with automakers all over the world since January, and are thrilled to announce that due to the increasing strength of the auto industry, and the ongoing confidence and support our manufacturer partners have in the NAIAS, it will return to a two-day press schedule format to accommodate dozens of worldwide and North American product unveilings."

"NAIAS remains one of the most important motor events in the world, and our manufacturer partners know that we do everything possible to create an exciting, supportive venue that attracts more media than any other show in North America,"
says Perkins.

Perkins also announced that the 2012 NAIAS will have two days of press conferences, instead of the one scheduled this year. This is probably because automakers have been struggling to properly unveil their new products, while journalists were scrambling to dash from one venue to the next. More than 5,000 media from 41 states and 60 countries attended the show's 2011 press preview, and even more are expected next January.

The Blue Oval, Chrysler and The General have all announced major unveilings on both press days, and some European carmakers have a handful of exciting new cars to show us.
