Nissan’s budged subcompact sedan, the Almera, has gone on sale in Australia for a very reasonable AUD16,990 for the manual base car.
The Micra-based sedan is powered by a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 75 kW (105 hp) and 139 Nm (102 lb-ft) of torque. You can have it with a four-speed automatic, but although this sounds very rudimentary, Nissan will still charge you AUD2,000 more for this version.

Still, the car is efficient, as you can expect to get 6.3 l/100km (37 mpg US, 44 mpg UK) on the combined cycle for the manual or 6.7 l/100km (35 mpg US, 42 mpg UK) for the automatic.

Standard equipment includes six airbags, ESC, ABS brakes, plus 15-inch steel wheels, trip computer, manual air conditioning, Bluetooth connectivity for the base Almera ST.

The top-spec Almera Ti comes only in automatic form for AUD20,990, but adds features like 15-inch alloy wheels, foglights, parking sensors, push-button start, automatic air conditioning and an armrest in the back.
