Nissan 240Z "Roadster" Rendering Looks Like a Baby Ferrari

Nissan never built the original Z car as an open-top model, with the 240Z coming in coupe-only form. Over the years, this matter has been addressed via coach building and we are now here to zoom in on a rendering that shows what we missed out on.

This Nissan 240Z (call it a Datsun if you must) hasn't just lost its roof. Instead, digital artist Abimelec Arellano, who is responsible for this visual stunt, decided to do much more for the Japanese machine.

As such, the windshield, with its wraparound look, was borrowed from the Shelby Cobra. The fenders are more muscular, albeit with this tastefully restrained approach making it seem like they came this way from the factory.

When it comes to the wheels that fill up those arches, we're looking at a choice that can only be fitting for such a classic car, namely American Racing Torq Thrust goodies.

The entire rear deck had to be created from scratch. And, if we look beneath the surface, we'll find a strut tower bar aimed at making up for the lost body rigidity of the roadster, as well as a quilted leather finish.

The latter addition fits the virtual build like a glove, since this transformation appears to take the Fairlady Z upmarket. And while purists might not enjoy the resemblance, it's difficult not to think of a Prancing Horse when checking out this open-air proposal.

While we’re talking about the Nissan 240Z, it seems the next-generation Z car, which is currently in the advanced stages of development, will deliver a styling theme similar to the first – the numerous rumors and renderings on the matter have been confirmed by a recent teaser released by the automotive producer, with the retro-futuristic styling generating plenty of applause on the world wide web.

Hopefully, the back-to-basics approach will also involve a scale-friendly aura, which means the expected 400 hp (think: twin-turbo V6) should be more than enough. And we should meet the successor of the 370Z within the next twelve months.
