When somebody asks why people make such a big deal about the 2JZ engine, this is the clip you should recommend they watch. The same goes for when somebody gets overly excited about their 1,000 hp 2JZ Toyota Supra, though.
That's because this Nissan 240SX S15 gets 2,600 hp out of the legendary three-liter straight-six unit, though you might have a hard time spotting the actual engine block among all the piping, heat shields, and huge turbos that now lurk under the Japanese coupe's hood.

The fact the guys at Prospeed decided to use a Nissan for this build is somewhat ironic considering they also went for the Toyota powerplant. The fact Nissan isn't exactly bereft of potent engines makes it an even more interesting choice, but everyone has their reasons and at the end of the day, what point is there in complaining if it all works so well?

Pretty much everything about this build - which is known under the alias of "White Rice" - is custom made and serves a very clear purpose. One of the first things that stand out is the hole in the front bumper that exposes the turbocharger's turbine. It looks a bit silly, yet you can't really afford to laugh knowing what this machine can do - and also knowing somebody with more knowledge than you on how to make cars go faster decided to put it there.

Actually, the car has two different engine blocks available, with the team swapping between them depending on what is asked of the car on any given occasion. Here, you'll see it doing quarter-mile runs, but the guys at Prospeed say they aim to focus on the shorter 1/8-mile races in the future.

As it is, this thing hits 226 mph (364 km/h) in under seven seconds and, out of the many runs we've been able to watch in this clip, the best time we spotted was 6.452 at 221.13 mph (356 km/h). However, considering its performance can be tweaked in a virtually unlimited number of ways, you can never positively know where the limits of the White Rice really are.
