One of the great perks of working for Mercedes-Benz one way or another is that at some point you might get the chance to drive one of their iconic classic cars.
On a scale from one to ten of the most beautiful Mercedes-Benz cars ever, the 300 SL must rank at... oh, I don’t know, it’s impossible to choose from so many of them, but it’s definitely up there, just under the 300 SL Gullwing.

On a scale from one to ten of the most visible men working for Mercedes-Benz, Nico Rosberg must rank in second, just under his teammate and great rival Lewis Hamilton (who happened to be crowned world champion after the race in Austin).

So we’ve established we have two of the best that Mercedes-Benz has to offer, all in the confines of a single short video. And, by god, it is short - we would have liked to see more of the car driving through what it must have considered to be a pretty strange scenery.

The old Mercedes-Benz doesn’t just look out of time driving on the American interstates, it also looks out of place. It’s like somebody should have stopped it and said, “Hey, you look lost. The French Riviera is that way!” But, you know, with a Texan accent.

That short image with the car in front of a monster eighteen-wheeler is enough to make the hairs on your back stand up. No car would ever stand a chance against such a behemoth, but these old ones with their terrible safety ratings, they would just be crushed to a pulp.

It’s a good thing they filmed the journey before the race, too, as they actually managed to catch Nico smile. Had they done it afterwards, his disposition would have been entirely different, and not in a good way.
