Nicklas Bendtner Crashes Aston Martin, Escapes Uninjured

The 21-year-old Arsenal striker wrecked his £120,000 black Aston Martin, but walked away with no serious injuries and only with bumps and bruises after smashing the car into a tree. However, the car was severely damaged, and is less likely to be ever driven again.

The accident happened the past weekend, when Danish international footballer Nicklas Bendtner was on his way to training, driving on the A1 towards South Mimms. It appears the Arsenal star lost control of the car and collided with a fence and a tree.

According to Bendtner’s father, the young footballer suffered grazes to one of his knees and pain in his shoulder following the accident. That is also the reason why Bendtner has been ruled out of Arsenal's UEFA Champions League tie against Olympiacos yesterday.

“Nicklas did not practise because he had a car accident,” Arsene Wenger said for the Daily Mail. “Fortunately there was no real long-term damage, but he was bruised and we thought it better he did not train. He should be back for Sunday's game (against Blackburn).”

According to a police statement, there were no other vehicles involved in the crash. According to the aforementioned source, Bendtner was taken from the scene by two members of the training staff, who took the player to be checked over by a club medic.

However, Bendtner's father and agent Thomas Bendtner revealed the 21-year-old was 'badly shaken' by the crash. “Nicklas has been training by himself on a bike in order to be careful and watch out,“ Thomas Bendtner told Sporten.dk. “He is badly shaken and has some bruises, but knows he was very lucky.”
