Nicholas Cage Filming New Car Movie in 3D

After the success registered by the Gone in 60 seconds movie (2000), American actor Nicholas Cage is reportedly working on a new 3D car movie called “Drive Angry,” which promises to be a Hollywood hit as well. Cage will be playing Milton, a “hardened felon who has broken out for one last chance at redemption,” as reported by ShockTillYouDrop.com.

Cage will be driving a turbocharged black 1971 Chevelle as he tries to save his infant granddaughter from the hands of a vicious cult of fanatics.

Directing the new movie is Patrick Lussier, the man behind My Bloody Valentine and White Noise 2: The Light. Alongside Cage, the cast crew comprises names such as Kaley Cuoco, Tom Atkins and David Morse.

Lussier is using real 3D cameras to do the filming and not some sort of conversion process. "The problem with conversion is that it tends to be a little pop-up-book," he told MTV.

"For Drive Angry, we've got these great cars in the film — a '69 Charger, a '71 Chevelle — and the lines of those cars, to try and post-convert, you'd never get all of the depth and the beauty of those machines. Shooting in 3D, you get all the angles of the cars and you feel like you're in it with Nic Cage behind the wheel."

The movie is expected to hit 3D theaters next February 11 throughout North America, just a few months before the launch of Fast and Furious Five.

"Drive Angry: It's all about fast cars, revenge and a sophisticated marketing program aimed at males between the ages of 13 and 25," the production company says.
