NHTSA Administrator to Speak at the SAE World Congress

David Strickland, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Administrator is scheduled to speak on April 15 at the SAE International 2010 World Congress at Cobo Center in Detroit. Prior to his appointment as an NHTSA Administrator, Strickland served for eight years on the staff of the US Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation.

The theme of the 2010 SAE World Congress is Ecollaboration (Engage, Exchange, Excel), meaning that it will be focusing on overcoming economic and environmental challenges with innovative solutions achieved through collaboration.

Host company for the event is Ford Motor Company and the Tier One Strategic Partner is Magna.

The event will be held April 13-15 and will feature topics such as powertrain solutions, energy policy recommendations, technology transfer, smart grid technology, meeting environmental and fuel economy requirements, and fuel economy claims for PHEV and hybrid vehicles.

New for the 2010 World Congress is a new "Innovators Only" exhibition featuring more than 80 companies who accepted and met the SAE 2010 World Congress innovation challenge. Other new elements include technology lounges that will feature dialogue and information exchange, and "Chat with the Experts" discussion groups, that are led by subject matter experts and are intended to open dialogue on key topics and issues.

More than 121,000 engineers and related technical experts in the automotive, aerospace and commercial-vehicle industries are a part of SAE International that also comprises a charitable arm which supports many programs, including A World in Motion and the Collegiate Design Series.
