The current Volkwsagen Golf BlueMotion is a very efficient car, with 3.8 l/100km (74.3 UK mpg) and only 99 g/km of CO2. However, the upcoming Golf Mk7 BlueMotion will easily beat those numbers, primarily because it is reportedly some 100 kilograms (220 lbs) lighter than the Mk6.
Now VW have confirmed that the Mk7 BlueMotion will do 3.2 l/100km and emit just 85 g/km of CO2. In addition, it also gets a better drag coeficient. This all means that the Golf will be able to beat other green cars with ease, as its 1.6-liter turobediesel engine will pull it along with ease.
Furthermore, for those who don’t really need the full five-door hatchback, there’s also a three-door version coming, some time after the launch of the regular model. The Golf Mk7 will be officially unveiled during a special ceremony, set to take place in Berlin on September 4th.
