Next Porsche 911 GT3 RS Coming in 2014

After unveiling the new 991-generation 911 GT3 just a few weeks ago, Porsche has confirmed that the more powerful GT3 RS version will be introduced in 2014.

Speaking to Car Magazine, head of GT series production Andreas Preuninger said Porsche engineers are already working on the new GT3 RS: "The RS is always three-quarters of a year behind the GT3, so we’ve already begun."

In addition, Preuninger revealed that the GT3 RS will not be offered with a manual gearbox, meaning that Porsche's most extreme 911 will be pushed around roads and tracks with the PDK dual-clutch transmission.

"There’s no chance of a manual. We don’t want to offer too many options on our GT cars. And if you’ve got a manual and a PDK you’ve got to have different set-ups for the suspension, the aero, the tyres, everything. We are a small team and can only concentrate on one car", Preuninger added.

With power figures of around 500 HP, the GT3 RS version will be designed to be even more extreme, in order to differentiate it even more from the 2014 Porsche 911 GT3: "We’ve opened up a wider field of usability with the new GT3, so maybe that gives us more reason to push the RS towards a more extreme side".
