Being the automaker’s flagship model, the Lexus LS is everything about the pursuit of perfection, the company’s mantra if you wish. Which means it also has to wear the latest technology, right? Then how about a Lexus LS fuel cell?
Toyota’s latest technology is represented by the fuel cell it has developed and fine tuned to fit in a production sedan. Before that, the place was taken by advanced active and passive safety systems, which you can already see on most Lexus models, with the LS featuring all of them.

This means the LS will, or at least should, get to wear the new hydrogen fuel cell technology which will be available for all markets in 2015. Japanese Best Car magazine has also done some renderings based on this idea and we have to say we’re pretty impressed with the results.

A Mirai with a master's degree

The luxury sedan borrows some of the Toyota Mirai design cues to signal its hydrogen nature, which appear to fit the previous shapes quite well, but unfortunately these won’t ever make it to the production version.

That’s because the next generation Lexus LS won’t come only with a fuel cell powertrain and the Mirai's shapes along with Lexus' wind-water ideology won’t go with combustion engines.

Instead, the hydrogen version could be offered as a costly alternative to the hybrid LS or replace the hybrid powertrain altogether. That’s because the one found in the Mirai makes just enough electricity to power a 151 hp / 247 lb-ft (335 Nm) motor, which, let’s be honest, is not what an LS should come with.

Other than that, we have to say those headlamps are sick and the LS actually looks good with huge side vents.
