The Lexus IS F performance sedan remained almost the same for 2014, only gaining minor chassis tweaks, LED foglamps, a fiber carbon lip spoiler and some new interior trimming. But that is about to change soon and the new one promises to bring even more driving fun and performance.
Speaking with CarAdvice, chief engineer of the current-generation Lexus IS F Yukihiro Yaguchi said that the track dedicated IS F CCS-R is used as a benchmark for the next-generation street-use IS F sedan.

“Next-generation benchmark is this car [IS F CCS-R] … for handling and acceleration performance,” Yaguchi-san begins. “This car is every man can drive it. It’s approachable for a wide range.”

The Lexus IS F CCS-R (Circuit Club Sport Racer) uses the same 5-liter V8 engine as the street legal IS F, making 416 hp sent to the rear wheels via an eight-speed automatic gearbox.

Yaguchi refused to comment about downsizing the engine or obtaining more power from the current one by turbocharging it. Instead, he hinted that the new IS F will use more carbon fiber parts too reduce its weight as much as possible and it will also borrow more from the CCS-R’s racing suspension.
