The Land Rover Defender is one of the last pure off-roaders on the market, but the muddy beast is on its way of being replaced. The upcoming Frankfurt Auto Show will give us an idea of what the Brits are cooking for 2015, when the move is planned for, as we will meet the DC100 concept.

Of course, the DC100 is just a simple hint of what the Defender's replacement will look like, as it is too early to draw serious lines. Let's hear it in Land Rover's words: "The Land Rover DC100 concept builds upon the essential elements of the car's character and allows Land Rover to open the debate and inspire people to dream about the Defenders of the future"

However, the automaker is planning to also include customers in the development process, claiming that the project is, in a way, open for suggestions.

"We plan to engage with existing and potential customers to help us finalise the details of the new vehicle. One thing's for sure, it's going to be an exciting journey, and we can't wait to get going," Gerry McGovern, Director of Design, Land Rover, said.

Replacing such an iconic vehicle is anything but simple, but this also means that the Brits have a mouthwatering project to work on.

The main "junction" in the development pathway should be the choice between developing a new platform for the model, or working on a current one, with one candidate for the latter job being the T5 one, which can be found under the current Discovery and Range Rover Sport.
