When we tested the Renault Laguna Coupe, we found it to be a great car with plenty to offer to those willing to renounce their badge snobbery. However, despite being available with four-wheel steering, we wanted a whole lot more in terms of dynamics. With such good looks, it would have made for a great RS model.
A new generation of Laguna models is on the way, rumored to share its platform with the next Megane. Renault needs to rethink the whole idea of offering larger models, according to Auto Express.
The good news is that the French carmaker’s Vice President of Product Planning, Beatrice Foucher, says there will be “at least one coupe in the line-up. It is necessary to have an emotional car like this to support our brand identity.”
However, the best news for fans of their go-faster division, Renaultsport, is that a Laguna Coupe RS is reportedly a certainty. There’s no mention of an arrival schedule, but the sedan received a facelift last year, and the Megane will have one by March next year. Given these facts, the next generation should debut in about three years.
