British automaker Jaguar is reportedly developing two new body styles for the next-generation XJ sedan, although the current refreshed model is rumored to be around for another three to four years.
According to Edmunds, the decision has something to do with the commercial potential the Jaguar XJ might have in China. Therefore, the British want to add an “old-school style” body that will meet customer expectations in the world’s biggest automotive market.

The second body version is said to continue the modern theme of the current car, which blends cues from four-door saloons and fastbacks. On the other hand, the Chinese sedan will get a traditional three-box treatment similar to the one seen on previous generation X300 to X358 models.

Although such a decision might prove to be crucial for Jaguar’s financial future, we do advise that you take this piece of with a grain of salt. At least for a while.
