Chrysler’s next-generation minivan, which is scheduled to arrive in North American showrooms sometime in 2016, will become available with a nine-speed automatic transmission and an optional all-wheel drive system, Automotive News reports.
From the same report we learn that the new minivan will also gain a new Uconnect infotainment system and the company’s updated Stow ’N Go seating system, which is already underway according to a document filed with the US Patent and Trademark office last year.
The upcoming minivan’s design is still a mystery, but word has it the vehicle will borrow a few styling cues from the 700C concept that was unveiled two years ago in Detroit. However, Ralph Gilles says the company is trying “to push the envelope and not disturb what’s good about the minivan.”
The next-gen Town & Country will be built in Windsor, Canada as well, and Chrysler is currently trying to get approval to upgrade the plant with an investment that exceeds CAD$2 billion. The Windsor facility will also produce a Dodge vehicle that won’t be a minivan.
