When people think of the Renault Espace, imagery of boxy design and cheap plastics occurs in the mind. It’s only natural, since the monobox has been on the market for so long.
This month, the French used a motor show in the heart of Germany to preview the next Espace and oddly called their concept the “Initiate Paris”, carefully hinting at the luxury we associate with the French capital.
The concept changes our perception of what the Espace should be. The “purpose” part of the multi purpose vehicle now has to include crossover characteristics to suit the family’s traveling needs and aerodynamic design to reduce CO2 emissions.
Based on the concept which was recently shown, X-Tomi Design created this rendering for the next-generation Espace. The biggest change is the silhouette. You get a long, stretched cabin, but the big wheels and the strong front and rear ends of a crossover.
Renault has told us the production version of the Initiate Paris will be on display one year from now at the Paris Motor Show 2014 and will go on sale early in 2015.
