Next Gen Viper, Winter Testing Stability Control

First, it was here to stay. Then, it was supposed to leave and never return. Now, there seems to be no stopping for the unforgettable Dodge Viper to make a memorable return next year, provided all the testing and engineering completes successfully.

The fact that the Viper will come back for another round has been confirmed for some time now, but last week Chrysler came forth and announced new details regarding the project. Sketchy as they are, these details show the car maker's determination to turn the new Viper into a much more successful model than the previous one.

Currently, using a 2010 Viper chassis for test purposes, SRT engineers are looking to create the ultimate racing machine by adding, for the first time, stability control tuning. A new engineering evolution that Chrysler says will get the Viper in shape for the “Super Car Olympics, sure to take place late in 2012 when the all-new performance icon returns.”

Wondering what that means? We'll probably find out soon enough, but by the looks of it, we're gonna be in for a real treat.

No other details on the subject were released thus far, leaving the auto industry wondering what exactly will the Americans fit under the hood of the new Viper. Will it be an American engine, or an Italian sourced one, as the word goes? Will we see more Italian lines into the new model (Chrysler said at one point the new Viper will be "drop-dead beautiful" and inspired by "a naked woman on the beach”), or will Chrysler limit at tweaking the car's former shapes?
